Hillary Clinton: Thanks! And no, I'm not quitting
Sen. Hillary Clinton thanked a cheering crowd in Louisville for her big win in Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary in Kentucky, and she assured them that she has no plans to quit the race.
Clinton said she will travel to campaign next in Montana and fight to get the Democratic National Committee to seat the contested delegates of Florida and Michigan, who favor her.
"I'm going to keep making our case until we have a nominee, whoever she may be," Clinton said in her victory speech at the Downtown Marriott.
Still, Clinton stuck to a theme of party unity.
She only briefly and politely mentioned her Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, saying he was running a strong campaign. Clinton praised Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and said he was the "progressive leader" who mentored both her and Obama in the Senate.
She reserved her criticism for Republican President Bush and presumed GOP nominee John McCain, who she called a risk to the country's stability and the dreams of the working class.
"The Democrats must take back the White House and end Republican rule. This country needs our combination of strength and compassion," she said. "That's why I'm still running, and that's why you're still voting."
"Whatever happens, I'll work as hard as I can to elect a Democratic president this fall," she said.

I'm a strong Clinton supporter and believe that the current mantra that people like me "will come over to Obama because it is in our economic interest" and that Clinton should be classy and "bow out" are very wrong.
People, when they are offended or feel like their values/lifestyle are ridiculed, do consistently vote against their economic interests. They vote for things they consider more valuable. Like self-respect. The current "talking head" appraisals comparing the white vote in Kentucky with that in Oregon (they are more educated and less religious) is offensive and simplistic.
Life is very hard for many, many people now. People like me want a proven track record. We want specifics, not vague promises of "change" and "bringing us together". I remember 8 years of peace and prosperity under the Clintons. Bring it back. Rebuild America.

Elizabeth,
Are you saying that if Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination you will vote for John McCain - Republican - for United State's President?
You seem to want to give Hillary a free pass for saying, "whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfidftLe5...
Translation: whites who have not completed college equals whites who are uneducated ... at least in the traditional sense of the phrase "to be educated."
Hillary brought the phrase into the spotlight and bragged that it was people without the higher learning that vote for her ... Hillary brought that up first, not the press but Hillary.
As for your claim that America had peace & prosperity under the Bill Clinton. Is that so? Under Bill Clinton America got stuck with NAFTA.
Under Bill Clinton we got to witness a President get impeached for LYING under oath!
I supported Bill both times he ran, I even supported him during the Lewinsky story .. I refuse to support him, or any other President who think it's justified to LIE UNDER OATH!
As for Hillary's experience as 1st. Lady ... she gained a lot of experience in LYING. Hillary is a great liar.
* How about her lie about dodging sniper fire while running to a car when she landed in Bosnia? Hmm... she is delusional and does not even know the difference between the truth and a LIE!
* Hillary signed a pledge from the DNC agreeing to bar Florida & Michigan 100% loss of votes, pledged delegates & super delegates for violating the DNC RULES in September 2007. Hillary issued a written statement on Sept 1 2007, "we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role. Thus we will sign the Pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar."

Now, Hillary does NOT want to follow the RULES and does NOT want to even live up to her own signed pledge stripping those 2 states 100% of their pledged & superdelegates.
Link:
Not only that, now and in total violation of DNC RULES - Hillary has come up with her own new magic number of 2210 - The DNC RULES say the magic number is 2025 - Hillary's new magic number illustrates how delusional Hillary Clinton is ... the ONLY democrat in the country that really thinks the magic number is 2210 is Hillary Clinton & she thinks if she says it enough it will be true .. kind of like her sniper fire attack? She is a loser and her supporters sound like sore losers when they say they would vote for McCain if Hillary loses the democratic nod ... which by the way, SHE HAS ALREADY LOST!
She is PATHETIC!!!
PS Elizabeth, I remember a discussion with you on this blog months ago about superdelegates and you said, "These are the DNC rules and it is too late to change them." - Posted by: Elizabeth | February 12, 2008 at 05:25 PM
Since YOU agree DNC rules were in place stripping Fl. & Mi 100% - you must find it desperate for Hillary to be including Fl & Mi in HER new math. I suppose you'll be writing her a memo saying "These are the DNC rules and it is too late to change them."

To the responder above: I'll come back and address the good issues you raised a little later tonight. But just 2 things now: 1) If the race is between Sen Obama and Sen. McCain, I'll vote for who I believe is best for the nation. But that decision will come after lots of data/analysis and it won't be a happy choice. 2) I believe that my earlier comment about following DNC rules had to do with the role played by superdelegates, not about FL and MI. Other commenters were saying that the superdelegates should follow the dictates of the elected delegates. I disagreed with that, stating their role as "party elders" whose interest was in winning the Nov. battle, and thus I supported those DNC rules. I do think that Florida should be allowed a revote since it was the repubs who forced the early primary date, not the dems. Florida is too important in our history not to allow them to vote. But a "redo" is the only fair way. I can't comment on MI.
More later.. Thanks for your response. Hope this makes sense since I'm typing fast before "cooking out" for the fam.

Elizabeth, you wrote, "2) I believe that my earlier comment about following DNC rules had to do with the role played by superdelegates, not about FL and MI."
As posted above, on Feb 12 you wrote, ""These are the DNC rules and it is too late to change them."
Are you NOW saying that DNC rules should be followed with regard to Superdelegate rules but NOT DNC rules on timing? Are you condoning Hillary Clinton's desire to breach the DNC Rules and breach her own signed pledge?
Did you know that the DNC RULES 11 A: the rule on timing? DNC rules are clear - if Fl. & Mi. hold primaries BEFORE February 5, 2008 both states would lose 100% of both pledged & unpledged (super) delegates:
* August 31, 2007 Letter from Howard Dean to all Presidential Candidates:
"As leader of the Democratic party, I strongly urge you to adhere to the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules.
The 2008 Delegate Selection Rules adopted by the FULL DNC at its August 2006 meeting in Chicago clearly provide that only 4 states - Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire & South Carolina - may hold their respective contests prior to February 5, 2008. The Rules and Bi-Laws Committee's finding of Non-Compliance include 100% loss of pledged and unpledged (super) delegates, if Florida and Michigan Democratic Parties do not submit a corrected and compliant Plan within 30 days of their receipt of the official notice that their plan is not in compliance.
Again, as candidates seeking the nomination, I strongly urge you to do your part and support the actions of the Rules and Bylaws Committee. The Rules and Bilaws Committee did one thing on Saturday: enforced the Party rules."
* September 1, 2007 - Hillary issues a statement agreeing with the DNC Rules - "we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role. Thus we will sign the Pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar."
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmUVr_Qt2Wg
* October 11, 2007 - Hillary Clinton interview with New Hampshire Public Radio,
-- NHPR's Laura Knoy: "So, if you value the DNC calendar, why not just pull out of Michigan? Why not just say, Hey Michigan, I'm off the ballot?"
-- Hillary Clinton, "you know, it's clear this election their having is not going to count for anything."
Hmmm..... There Hillary said it - Michigan's vote will not count for anything ...

Elizabeth, here's the bottom line. Hillary knew the DNC rules in advance, Hillary agreed to the DNC rules in advance, Hillary signed a pledge agreeing to the DNC rules IN ADVANCE ....
Now, and because she is "losing by the rules" - she wants to VIOLATE and BREAK the DNC rules ... typical Hillary Clinton CON!
So, lets see if you, Elizabeth, are women of integrity ... Do you agree that Hillary Clinton should STOP violating and STOP breaking the DNC rules by her recent chant to demand that DNC SHOULD seat Fl. & Mi. their pledged & unpledged delegates 100%?
... Or ... Do you think, like you did on Feb 12, "These are the DNC rules and it is too late to change them" -- so face it Hillary, Obama has the majority of pledged delegates so get off your "I'm going to jump up & down & scream all the way to the Convention." and face facts YOU LOSE!
