D.C. Democrats attack "Ann Northrup"

The Washington insiders at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fired off a critical e-mail today about high gas prices and former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup, the Louisville Republican who hopes to take her House seat back in November.

Except -- they misspelled her first and last names.

Ouch.

From the top of the DCCC e-mail:

Ann Northrup’s Long Support for Big Oil

This week, the Department of Energy announced that prices at the gas pump reached a nine month high. Yet, when she had a chance to do something about America's dependence on foreign oil, former Representative Ann Northrup voted to give huge tax breaks and increase taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil making record profits, rather than work to ease consumers’ pain at the pump.

The balls it must take to blame someone that is out of office and in the minority party for soaring gas prices, is unfathomable. In 2006, that Kermit the Frog impersonator we call Congressman Yarmuth, stood outside of Louisville gas stations and preached the evils of Anne Northup while promising to “take on big oil”, whatever that means. And what happened? The Democratic controlled House & Senate didn’t do a thing and prices continue to rise. So here’s my question; Did Johnny Boy decide he didn’t want to piss off “Big Oil” or did he learn that the market actually dictates price and rising demand in China coupled with crippling regulations on new refineries is pushing prices through the roof? I tend to believe the latter which makes this statement from the DCCC even more ridiculous and disingenuous.

This opening shot tells us something, it tells us the DCCC & DSCC are going to try and win this cycle the same way they won 06, gas prices and war. While both are obviously hugely important to Americans we need to remember a few things, both sides of the isle voted to authorize this war, almost unanimously, and in the two years the dem’s have held both houses they have done nothing to bring this war to an end or cap profits/prices on oil companies.

While John Cheves reported on the release he missed the point, it’s not that they misspelled a name; it’s that they think so little of us that they blatantly turn their failures as leaders into campaign attacks. Shameful.
