GOP 2nd congressional candidate's top aide quits
Republican Daniel London, U.S. Rep. Ron Lewis' chief of staff who is running to replace his boss, lost his top aide Colby Adams Wednesday.
Adams informed London Wednesday morning that because of a "family health situation," he wouldn't be able to continue on the campaign.
"It came down to a personal situation," Adams said. "I just couldn't give my full attention to the campaign."
Adams said he wishes London well but wouldn't be wading into the race even from the sidelines. "He's a great guy and a good friend. I'm not going to be actively involved. I don't have a vote in the district," he said.
Adams said he spoke with London about a possible replacement, but "that decision is up to Daniel."

London needs to drop out before he hurts himself any further.
By stubbornly staying in this race, after he and his boss failed to rig it for him, he is running the real risk of ruining his boss' legacy. Despite Lewis' years of exemplary service to the 2nd CD and unless they give up this campaign hatched from dishonesty, Lewis will largely be remembered for betraying his fellow Republicans on his way out the door.
Come on Daniel; do the right thing and get out of this race. You cannot expect voters to embrace this sleazy strategy of deception.

The Herald-Leader should report on Mitch McConnell's obstructionism:
http://www.bluegrassroots.org/showDiary.do?diaryId=997
Senator Mitch McConnell cast the deciding vote today against a bipartisan economic stimulus bill that would send checks of at least $500 to taxpayers, including seniors and disabled veterans. McConnell led the opposition against the bill that would also provide tax breaks to businesses to spur investments and prevent layoffs. McConnell says he instead supports a version of the bill passed by the House of Representative which would exclude 20 million seniors and disabled veterans from receiving rebates.
"With the economy teetering on the edge of recession and Kentucky families worried about their future, Mitch McConnell today cast the deciding vote against jumpstarting the economy and against tax rebates for those who need it most," DSCC spokesman Matthew Miller said. "McConnell claims he supports a stimulus bill, but for some reason he doesn't believe senior citizens and veterans deserve the same tax rebates as other Americans. Veterans and senior citizens are being hit hard by the economic downturn, and they deserve to be a part of the economic recovery package, and not left on the sidelines by politicians like Mitch McConnell."
