Beshear appoints former Gov. Collins' son to head historic commission
FRANKFORT -- Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Steve Collins, son of former Gov. Martha Layne Collins, to the Historic Properties Advisory Commission, which he will chair.
Collins, 47, is funeral director for Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville and an attorney. He replaces on the commission Wayne B. Yeager, who has resigned . His appointment will be for the remainder of Yeager's unexpired term, ending Aug. 11.
The Historic Properties Advisory Commission has 14 members appointed by the governor. It oversees maintenance, furnishings and repairs of the Executive Mansion, the Old Governor's Mansion and the Capitol
