Rasmussen poll shows more mixed news for McConnell

POLL ALSO HAS BESHEAR LEADING FLETCHER BY 15 POINTS

A Rasmussen Reports political newsletter poll of 500 likely Kentucky voters shows U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell's "voters support" is below 50 percent, although 56 percent of Kentuckians view him favorably.

The poll tested how McConnell would fare in the 2008 election against two potential Democratic challengers, Attorney General Greg Stumbo and state Auditor Crit Luallen.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen Reports also showed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear leading Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher in Tuesday's election by 15 points, 54 percent to 39 percent. The survey was performed Nov. 1.

That 15-point margin mirrors the spread shown in a poll late last month conducted for the Herald-Leader and Action News 36 by the firm Research 2000. Beshear was leading 55 percent to Fletcher's 40 percent, according to that survey of 600 likely voters.

One key number from the Rasmussen Report's poll regarding McConnell was slightly different from the Herald-Leader/Action News 36 Election Poll. That survey showed McConnell with a favorable rating of 47 percent compared to the Rasmussen Report's results of 56 percent.

In terms of how McConnell would fare against a pair of potential Democratic opponents if the election were today, the results of the two polls were similar.

The Herald-Leader/Action News 36 poll showed McConnell leading Stumbo 46 percent to 37 percent, while the Rasmussen poll showed McConnell up 48 percent to 41 percent for Stumbo.

McConnell performed better against Luallen in the Rasmussen poll, where he had a 10-point lead, 49 percent to her 39 percent. In the Herald-Leader/Action News 45 percent said they'd vote for McConnell, while 40 percent picked Luallen.

To the dismay of the Herald-Liberal, McConnell is going to destroy anyone who runs against him next year, be they Democrat OR Republican.

Destroy is a strong word - but that is the objective of McConnell - although he does not always succeed - after the rise of poor Ernie - McConnell boasted that he would bury Ben Chandler -but now it looks like the shovel is ready to scatter the dirt upon poor Ernie's political grave - so to the McConnell loyalists: choose your words carefully - use soft ones for you might be eating them one year from now...

If Mitch incites a mud-slinging match, he'll be the one destroyed. You can take that to the bank. The skeletons will come out and all the dominoes will fall.

I really hope it's Stumbo that is the D nominee. It'll be fun to watch McConnell cut him up into little adulterous deadbeat dad boozing pieces and ship the remnants back to Kassidy Mountain in Prestonsburg.

Wipe the slobber off your chops, Democrats. You'll not defeat McConnell with any of that rabble you have.

I also hope that Scumbo is the Democratic nominee. His candidacy would re-unify the Republicans like never before. Though the GOP in Kentucky is fractured, all sides hate Greg Stumbo with a passion. The Republicans would consolidate their power against Stumbo like you've never seen.

Mitch's will be in a race for his life next year. Emily group, DNSC, Labor will put up six million just to get started.Hundreds of pro campaign folks will move into Kentucky in late winter early fall. Some are already here.In the end Mitch will go down with his war loving party. Mitch can't buy this one. Bring it on

Comical, 10:11. You don't think Right to Life, Club for Growth, and the NRSC won't do the same for McConnell on top of his $10 million? Labor? Labor hasn't been a force in Kentucky politics in years.

Lt Colonel Andrew Horne could be Mitch McConnells worst nightmare and he knows it! This man can beat McConnell.

Who is Andrew Horne?

Mitch has tried to control the republican party with an iron fist for years. His justification was that he was the brightest political mind in Kentucky and could raise vast amounts of money.

Problem is that he forgot this didn't make him a dictator.

For his dis-loyalty to Ernie, every republican should withhold their vote from him.

For his flip flopping on illegal immigration, every republican and democrat should withhold their vote from him.

For his attempts to control the party and not let the democratic process work, he should be trounced.

For his refusal to come to the aid of every republican running in every race, rather than the "what can they do for me" attitude he shows to state reps, etc., he should be bounced out of office.

And if for no other reason, the fact that he only cares about millionaires and money should result in his resounding defeat.

10:13

Labor's work will add 10 pts. to ernie's defeat. Mitch likes to say money is power. Labor has money and they will spend it next year as part of a team that will beat Mitch. Ask Anne Northup who beat her butt!!!!!

Dream on about McConnell. He'll be re-elected without breaking a sweat.

Labor is a joke and unions are on their way out. Nice try.
