Northup speaks
WHAS-TV's Joe Arnold has scored the first post-election interview with Anne Northup, the
Louisville Republican who challenged Gov. Ernie Fletcher in the May primary race for governor.
She denies Lexington Republican Larry Forgy's assertion that her primary challenge fractured the Republican Party and contributed to Fletcher's defeat on Tuesday.

Anne for RPK chair!

Who cares. She is not a true Republican, just a sore loser. She should have spoke after the primary and supported the governor as he would have done for her.I don't care what she has to say.
Beshear is governor now and that's all that matters. I wish Steve the best of luck. As for Ernie, thank you for all that you've done for the state. A lot of your best work went unnoticed. You did a lot of good and I hope that you get some personal time to do the things you enjoy, example being gardening and barbequing. I'm sure you'll have another shot at public office in a few years.

If Ann gets RPK chair there will be a mass exodus of county chairpersons...remember you heard it from ole abe hisself...

Northrup's career is over. If she had laid low, she could have taken Bunning's place in 2010. Bunning was lucky to win last time and needs to go ahead and retire.

The biggest lie in politics: Northup's career is over. Had she won the primary, Fletcher and Forgy would have trashed her all the way to November. She scares Democrats because she consistently kicked their liberal behinds in Louisville. I'd love to see her run statewide. She'd have my support.

Honestabe:
A BUNCH of resignations from Republican County Chairs would not be a bad thing. Out here in the far west, we have nothing but wingnuts who see black helicopters everywhere. If they were not County Chairs they would be spending all of their time reading the National Enquirer. The Republican Party has to be rebuilt from the County level up sending a few tired old bones to the home. Oh yeah, they should take Larry with them.

Angry Annie needs to take her kickball and her negative campaigns home. Happy to see her out of Congress because all she did was kiss-up to W and Mitch. Louisville did a lot better with Yarmuth!

If Yarmuth is an improvement over Northup then this country is in a sad state of affairs.
Republicans lost the governors race because we didn't stick together. Louisville Republicans pulled one way, Central Kentucky Republicans another.....so on and so on. To sum it up, we acted like Democrats.

Anne Northup cost Ernie Fletcher quite a bit of money that could have gone toward the general election.
Anne Northup never uttered the first word in defense of her former Congressional colleague when the Stumbo assault began.
I applaud Anne's service in Congress and in the General Assembly, and I continue to offer prayers in the wake of the loss of her adopted son, but her actions were certainly not helpful to her party or to her party's governor.
Why can't Forgy's detractors realize that he is right in a lot of ways? Mitch McConnell could have done a great deal to blunt the effects of what Stumbo did, just by speaking out against Stumbo, and some believe he had it in his power to bring the probe to a screeching halt. Yet he didn't. I know for a fact that Fletcher felt hurt by Northup's lack of support and eventual betrayal. I wonder how he felt when his political mentor turned his back on him when the sledding got rough?

Stumbo didn't make Ernie break the law and the sooner we R's realize that and pull together, the better. Our soon to be former Governor hung himself by lying to the press, pure and simple.
He disgraced the party and the state and should have not run for re-relection. If he would have told the truth and the story would have died in a week, but it turned out the only thing that died was his career. Rightly so.

Whomever said Forgy is "right in a lot of ways" must be mentally ill. I have never heard such a head case in all my life.
It's so obvious he really likes to hear himself talk. Too bad few other do.
He's not even a has been...he's a never was.

10:44, Ernie Fletcher never broke the law and he never lied to the press. The document dismissing the indictment against him pretty much absolves him personally of any criminal behavior, while the governor admitted strong evidence of wrongdoing within the administration but not by him personally.
And how did he lie to the press? He promised the unvarnished truth and the truth came to light in the following statement:

10:47, can you deny that it would have helped Fletcher's case if McConnell had spoken up in the governor's defense?

Hiring and firing are not criminal behavior, it is called Human resources. Pitiful!

If Northrup had focused on the issues instead of bashing her opponents, she would have won the Republican primary hands down. During her visits around Kentucky, especially in the strong GOP backyards, she spent more time telling what was wrong with her opponents instead of what was right with her. This was a major turnoff to the Republicans.

Ann should have came to Lexington this morning, others who swayed away, failed to engage were there and the healing started. Get over it Ann, make the call to a good man and make amends.
