Grayson airs his first ad of the campaign
Secretary of State Trey Grayson's first commercial, which began running today, alludes to his work on civics education programs and also has a religious overtone.
"Trey Grayson believes we can restore the soul and spirit of Kentucky if we honor the gifts God has given us," the announcer says at one point.
The 30-second commercial, called "Faces of Kentucky," ends by mentioning Grayson's major initiative to increase civics education in classrooms. Grayson has been working with the University of Louisville to establish curriculum ideas for high schools.
Grayson had sought some state funding from the General Assembly for the creation of a civics learning center but the legislature has yet to approve it.
"When political leaders let us down, Trey Grasyon stood up and established a model program to teach our children about honesty, ethics and integrity," the announcer said.
Grayson faces Democrat Bruce Hendrickson in the Nov. 6 election.

Talking about distancing himself from Ernie..... No where does he say he is a republican......

I am a Republican and I can say that Trey is the kind of Republican that stands for the what we are about, honesty, integrtiy, and dedication. I really hope Democrats don't judge Trey for the failures of Fletcher. Trey is the real deal.

Sounds like a winner!!!!!!

Saturday's Kentucky Post contains some advice for Fletcher. It says he "has to get down-ticket Republicans like Secretary of State Trey Grayson to stop distancing themselves from him."
That is a great point. Where is the party loyalty? Why would any Republican vote for "Turncoat Trey" after the way he's treated Fletcher?

"I am a Republican and I can say that Trey is the kind of Republican that stands for the what we are about..."
Too bad Trey isn't as proud to be a republican as you are; since the Ad makes a point to hide his political affiliation.
Is it still rumored he plans on switiching parties after the election?

What? No one is going to comment on Trey throwing Ernie under a bus with this ad?
Posted by: | October 15, 2007 at 03:40 PM
I am a life-long Democrat and support Trey Grayson. Kentucky's teachers voted overwhelmingly to endorse Trey Grayson for re-election. Ky voters should take out their anger on Ernie, but not Trey.

Any "good government" Republican (or Democrat, for that matter) should vote for Trey Grayson because he, like Steve Pence, put loyalty to the People first after Ernie Fletcher betrayed his party and the citizenry.
To vote for four more years of unbridled incompetence, arrogance and corruption is neither an act of loyalty nor in anyone's best interest.

I support the Governor but I do not see Trey's ad as throwing the Governor under the bus. I think Trey is trying to remind voters of the work he has done. People hate government right now and his ad gives people a feeling of hope. Well done.

Turncoat Trey.

What does secretary of state have to do with anything as far as leadership in the state of Kentucky.

Grayson has too much neck fat. He needs to get that sucked out before he goes on TV.

Restoring Kentucky's promise one child at a time - what is that supposed to mean? It does not tell me anything about his job, or what he is going to do different than his opponent, does this mean his opponent does not like children, I doubt it.

Trey is a lightweight. Bruce Hendrickson is giving him a run for his money! Come on folks he has had four years to get to know the voters of Kentucky - he might be the most over rated guy in the KY GOP Today! To top it off he has a lisp and is affeminate!

I am in complete agreement Mira. I can't believe other people don't see this.

Grayson threw Fletcher, and the GOP, under the bus at Fancy Farm last year. I'll never vote for him for anything ever again.
Posted by: | October 16, 2007 at 09:20 PM
One other thing -- why do so many Republicans believe Greg Stumbo and Pierce Whites and Doug Doerting over Ernie Fletcher? I'll never understand that as long as I live.

"No where does he say he is a republican......"
Do candidates for any office ever mention their party affiliation in general election ads? No, they do not. He may be "distancing himself from Ernie" but the reason you cite is nonsense.

"Bruce Hendrickson is giving him a run for his money!"
Bruce Hendrickson isn't giving him a run for anything - certainly not the money race. What has he raised? $8,000 to Trey's $500,000? The only thing that would put him in the running is Fletcher and his potentially huge drag on the other Republicans. Other things being equal, Grayson would win in a landslide. Hendrickson has no confidence from his own party - his fundraising numbers prove it.
