'527 group' launches new ad against Fletcher

The Bluegrass Freedom Fund is airing its second ad against Gov. Ernie Fletcher (view the ad below).

The message of the 30-second ad is that public officials such as Fletcher should know the difference between right and wrong.  It plays on the state hiring scandal that rocked the Fletcher administration.

The ad says 28 of Fletcher's appointees and aides were indicted in the hiring scandal.

Actually 15 people, including Fletcher, were indicted.  The special grand jury issued 14 other indictments but it is not clear if those were 14 people.

Fletcher issued a broad pardon for those indicted, except himself.  The charges against him were dropped after Attorney General Greg Stumbo and he reached a settlement.

The Fund is a “527 group” that is not supposed to be aligned with any campaign.

Fletcher, a Republican, faces Democrat Steve Beshear in the Nov. 6 election for governor.

it's probably a group of state employees who haven't gotten their promised raise in over 4 years.

I'd say they couldn't afford it after working under the Fletcher administration. Old Ernie's days are winding down looks like to me.

The headline characterizes 527 as an outside group. Anybody know what that means? Does it mean that it's not affiliated with either major party? Does it mean that it's outside the state? What? Thanks, Michael

Where were you the 30 years before Gov. Fletcher was elected? You had 8 years of the most corrupt and disgraceful leadership in my 56 years on this earth in Patton. He shamed the Commenwealth of Kentucky with his shameful behavior. As an example he reentered a bill in the middle of the night to build a center of somekind in his home area and hired a girl friend to run it. I understand it wasnt illegal but it was sure as hell unethical. Gov.Fletchers hiring practices have been used by the democrats as long as i can remember. I was told in 1971 by the leading Democrat in this county to register Democrat and she would get me a job. Ask yourself if the roads in Ky. are better(Patton left the road fund millions in the hole).Arent our schools greatly improved in the last few years? Ky. has a balanced budget for the first time in years.Put your petty b.s. aside and look for whats best for Ky.and the people and let Gov. Fletcher continue to improve Ky. If the people vote Mr. Fletcher out, so be it. Till then let him continue to improve the state and we will all benifit. thanks
