Fletcher campaign adds staffers

FRANKFORT -- Gov. Ernie Fletcher's re-election campaign has added two new staffers. Starting today, Andy Hightower will be issues and policy director and Jason Keller will be communications director.

"We're building a quality team that will allow us to effectively communicate my administration's record of accomplishment and articulate my vision for Kentucky's future," Fletcher said in a statement. "Andy and Jason will be a key part of that effort and I look forward to working with them towards victory in November."

Fletcher, a Republican, faces Democrat Steve Beshear in the November general election.

Hightower, of Lexington, has been a policy advisor to the governor.  A graduate of Georgetown University, he joined Fletcher's congressional office in 2000, where he worked as a legislative assistant.

Hightower has been a member of the board of directors for the Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center and the Southern Growth Policies Board.

Keller, of Lexington, has been deputy director of external affairs for the state Office of Homeland Security.  He previously was deputy press secretary for the governor and held that position in Fletcher's 2003 gubernatorial campaign. Keller is a graduate of Georgetown College.
