Fletcher appoints new county judge
FRANKFORT -- Gov. Ernie Fletcher has appointed John G. Mattingly of Lebanon as Marion County's judge-executive. As a write-in candidate, Mattingly won Tuesday's race with more than 53 percent of the vote.
Mattingly will immediately replace the late David Hourigan in the office and will serve a full four-year term beginning in January.
Mattingly received his bachelor's degree in agriculture education from Murray State University and his Master's degree in education from Western Kentucky University. He taught in the Marion County school system for 24 of the 27 years he was a teacher.
